Mohammad Asif has pleaded his innocence before a PCB committee which is looking into his 19-day detention at Dubai airport for alleged possession of an illegal substance. It may be recalled that Asif returned
to Pakistan after Dubai’s prosecutor dropped the case against
him on the grounds that it was ‘insignificant’

The committee heard Asif’s version of the issue and will most likely submit its findings next week

To make things worse Asif is also under suspension for
testing positive for a banned substance during
the Indian Premier League, where he played for the Delhi Daredevils. Will be due to appear before an IPL tribunal to face those charges as well.

Its going to take more then a innocent teddy bear face to come out of this mess.

Well its been finally decided that Pakistan will host the Champions Trophy as the ICC board finally decided to Pakistan as a host ending months of speculation over the venue due to security concerns.

However, it must be noted that seven of the ICC board’s ten Full Members, lead by India, expressed their overwhelming support for Pakistan, while the three dissenting votes were from England, Australia and New Zealand (South Africa ??)- who have now in turn decided to play a sore loser and have informed the governing body that their players “don’t want to” play in Pakistan due to the prevailing security climate there”.

This bunch of sore losers have joined hands yet again to yet again isolate the eastern block, initially such a rift was seen during Daryll Hair’s scandal where the same cricketing boards had bunched together and face off with the Asian bloc

In all the controversy concerning Mohammed Asif – this latest report is probably his last ditch effort to save his skin specially after IPL announced on Monday that Asif had tested positive for a banned substance, following which the Pakistan Cricket Board suspended him. It’s embarrassing as it is but I truly I wish him and his lawyer luck in hoping to find out a safe exit, can we safely say innocent until proven guilty or was the Sample A, enough of evidence to indict him out of cricket

Reported in Cricinfo: Pakistan fast bowler Mohammad Asif has asked for his B sample test, which had been scheduled for July 28, to be postponed. His lawyer, Shahid Karim, wants more time to prepare for the case and make travel arrangements.

“From the IPL we certainly want the documents that relate to the procedures they adopted for the ‘A’ sample test and we are entitled to have them,” Karim told PTI. “We also want certain documents from the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) that might be relevant to the case.”
