It embarrassing to be caught on tape almost assaulting a spectator, let alone be caught doing a ballet dance on the cricket pitch in Faisalabad and being caught red-handed there as well. Afridi today lashed out at the ICC for being too strict “I think that ICC has banned me four matches on a minor offence which is very disappointing especially since the World Cup is so near ……. “The spectator made bad remarks about Pakistan and in the heat of the moment I flashed my bat but I didn’t intend to harm the person,” My reaction to his statement is a simple SHUT UP! If he was so concerned about the world cup then he should have taken extra care to avoid such a reaction, heck for the unsporting attitude he should have been slammed the maximum eight match ban.
This is on top of ballet performance on the pitch in Faisalabad which I reported on my blog back in November of 2005
Afridi a Cheat but What about the English: “The 2nd day in this Faisalabad test was also interesting, a loud explosion was heard on the field it sounded more like a bomb blast and immediately the English players started running into the pavilion but later we found that it was just an exploding Pepsi gas cylinder Whew, that was a close one!, during all this commotion an innocent looking Afridi casually walks up onto the danger area of the pitch with spikes does a 180 degree spin and walks off literally scuffing up the pitch. Cheater caught on camera, he has just now been served with a lenient 3-match ban – he should have been thrown out, it was disgraceful and utterly embarrassing for Pakistan, boot him out for all I care as I don’t like cheats and cheaters who destroy the image of my country – Banish that A$$hole.”
His attitude of continuously showing un-sporting behavior is tarnishing any self respect which I hold dear for my own country. He is representing a nation of 160 million people and what he does there reflects on each and every person of Pakistan. If this incident like the Faisalabad incident had occurred on his own spare time, I care little, but when he does it while performing official duties for Pakistan. He is definitely liable and I hold him fully responsible. If he was so concerned about the world cup then he should have taken extra care to avoid such a reaction.
